I am very excited to announce that I will be going to StreetFoto San Francisco this year to present a lecture on my Gratuity Included project. In addition I am also one of the judges for their annual international singles and series competitions and I will be officiating this year’s cage match - a last minute competition where photographers submit images to be judged live on stage in front of an audience.

StreetFoto goes from June 3-9 and will be at the Harvey Milk Photo Center. Other guests include Richard Kalvar, Matt Stuart, Barry Talis, Roza Vulf, Jack Simon and many more. Deadline for the awards competitions is April 28.

The Results are in for World Street Photography Competition Vol. 6 /  by Chris Suspect

For the last four years I have served as a curator on the the World-Street.Photography book competition and this year was the best of all in terms of quality images that were submitted. I had a really tough time selecting my top images that you can see here. There were so many good ones that I was pleasantly surprised. The books that this community produces are really top notch and keep getting better over the years. For those of you reading this who didn’t get selected, I do want to encourage you to keep submitting as different curators look for different things and tastes are always evolving. I think World Street Photography VI may be the best publication yet.

I am excited to have three images in Exposed DC’s new exhibit in the Crystal City Underground in Washington, D.C. For those not in the DC area, Crystal City is an neighborhood in the southeastern corner of Arlington County, Virginia, south of downtown Washington, D.C. Due to its extensive integration of office buildings and residential high-rise buildings, the area uses underground corridors to travel between stores, offices, and residences without going above ground. It’s kind of like Toronto in a way.

Exposed DC takes advantage of many of the long stretches of corridors to hang photographs. They have done several exhibits there over the years and they are pretty mammoth shows. The show this spring features 62 photographers with probably over 100 images printed very large, 3 X 5 feet usually. It’s pretty awesome as there is massive amounts of foot traffic through this area due to all the businesses and the metro system.

This upcoming Spring exhibit is about color, how it is seen, captured, and used through photography.

The Spring 2019 exhibit will be installed on March 31.
